Important! How to Choose the Right TV Mount
Selecting a TV mount might seem simple, but it’s one of the most common areas where people make mistakes. Most shoppers look only at the TV size, and while that’s important, there’s another critical factor:
the stud spacing.
This detail is always listed in the mount description, but it’s often overlooked.
Many people buy a mount that supports their TV size, only to discover later that it’s designed for 16-inch studs, while their wall has 24-inch studs. In that case, the mount has to be returned and replaced.
Even if your home actually has 16-inch studs, I strongly recommend choosing a mount that supports 24-inch spacing as well. A 24-inch compatible mount will work for both 16″ and 24″ studs and offers more flexibility.
Also keep in mind: even with 16-inch studs, they are often not centered or not positioned where you want the TV. A mount that supports 24-inch spacing usually has a wider mounting plate and gives you more room to adjust.
Types of TV Mounts
- Fixed Mounts
The simplest mount type. It keeps the TV tight against the wall with no tilt and no movement.
Just remember: this mount cannot tilt the TV, which can be a problem if the TV is installed higher than eye level.

- Tilt Mounts
A very popular, affordable, and reliable option.
Tilting mounts allow you to angle the TV downward — ideal when the TV is mounted higher on a flat wall.
I recommend choosing a model that also lets you pull the TV slightly forward for easier access to the cables in the back.

- Full-Motion Mounts (Dual Stud)
These are the most common articulating mounts: they allow you to extend, swivel, and angle the TV, for example, toward a kitchen or dining area.
This is also the type of mount people most often buy incorrectly — especially on Amazon — because many full-motion mounts only support 16-inch studs.
Buyers see a “good price” and “fits my TV size” and grab it without checking stud spacing. Please don’t make this mistake!

3 – USX MOUNT UL Listed TV Wall Mount for 42″-84″ TVs up to 110lbs and 8″-24″ Studs
- Full-Motion Mounts (Single Stud)
These mounts attach to one stud and are designed for corner installations or tight spaces.
However, many people buy them for a flat wall and expect the TV to be centered — but in 90% of cases, there is no stud exactly in the center of the wall. The stud is typically left or right of center.
So only purchase a single-stud mount if you truly need it for a corner or specific niche.

- Motorized or Drop-Down Full-Motion Mounts
These mounts (hydraulic or electric) are very expensive, heavy, and require more complex installation.
Before you buy one, think carefully — most people who purchase these never actually use the “drop-down” feature because it’s not as convenient as it seems.
